The Panama Canal Watershed Experiment studies how degraded landscapes can be efficiently transformed into productive secondary forests, timber plantations, natural water utilities or eco-friendly livestock ranches. The presentation will offer an overview of the scientific research and will discuss how the project has worked with the Panama Canal Watershed Authority and the Government of Panama to inform sustainability policy that incorporates ecological and economic goals.
