Human civilization is going through the most important period of urbanization in history. Not since the urban crises of the 1960s have universities so actively worked to put the city at the center of research. What does it mean for the future of cities? The talk will present ongoing research on the “urban science” movement, and its partnerships with local governments to apply it in practice. It also provides historical context on the use of computer-based analysis and big data in urban studies.
