Non-destructive testing is used to evaluate fractures in concrete and to monitor the release of healing agents or the loss and restoration of properties including gas or water tightness. It also supports selection/composition of suitable healing agents. The methods under investigation are ultrasound, acoustic emission, infrared thermography (passive or active), microwave and RADAR techniques, and resonance frequency and modal analysis as well as wireless sensor networks for long-term monitoring.
