ShakeAlert is a proven technology for delivering earthquake alerts to the US west coast.  With recent funding from Congress the process of transitioning from the demonstration system that issued an alert in the 2014 M6.0 Napa earthquake to a public system is underway.  MyShake is a proposed new technology to use smartphones to both detect and issue a warning.  We present research results that show  MyShake could contribute to ShakeAlert in the US, and could provide a warning capability in many earthquake-prone regions around the world that currently have none.
