Seizing the Moment: Presenting Yourself and Your Work, Live

Friday, 13 February 2015: 1:00 PM-2:00 PM
Room 212 (San Jose Convention Center)
Don’t sit through yet another talk on how to deliver a talk! Instead, come to this interactive workshop to practice variations on a succinct 60-second introduction of yourself and your research, suitable for a variety of career, social-networking, idea-pitching, and online environments, far from a podium or projector. After a brief overview, you will be guided through a structured sequence of partner and small group activities to develop one or two versions of your introduction – exploring strategies to enhance personability and audience engagement – while also sharpening your skills at providing useful feedback to colleagues. Attendees are encouraged to bring these workshop techniques back to your own organizations to share more broadly.
