Crafting a Compelling Visual Presentation

Sunday, 15 February 2015: 8:00 AM-9:00 AM
Room 212 (San Jose Convention Center)
People remember 10 percent of what they hear, 35 percent of what they see, but 65 percent of what they hear and see, according to a study of audience perception. This workshop will draw on such insights into how people perceive and process information to teach participants how to use design principles, visualization tools, and delivery techniques to weave their words and images into memorable explanations of their research to both lay and professional audiences. In particular, the workshop will teach a “visual vernacular” that scientists can use to enhance their communications.
