Local Science Tours: Monterey Bay Aquarium

Pre-registration required
Monday, 16 February 2015: 9:30 AM-4:30 PM
San Jose Convention Center
Fee: $140

Participants will take a VIP behind-the-scenes tour of current research with a Monterey Bay Aquarium conservation scientist. For nearly 30 years, the non-profit Monterey Bay Aquarium has been the standard by which all other aquariums are judged. Located on the shores of Monterey Bay—the heart of the largest national marine sanctuary in the continental United States—the Aquarium is a showcase for sea life from one of the world’s richest marine regions: from sea otters and jellyfish to great white sharks; from kelp forests and wave-swept rocky shores to the vast open ocean. Participants will also have free time to explore Cannery Row, the historic waterfront district on Monterey Bay made famous by writer John Steinbeck. Enjoy lunch on your own from one of more than 25 restaurants, cafes, and wine-tasting rooms. Cannery Row restaurants feature sustainable seafood, produce from local farm fields and healthy, creative cuisine shaped by the character of this historic coastal community.

Tour is available on a first come, first served basis. Tour departs from and return to the San Jose Convention Center.
