Dr. Rahul will take on the general problem of reasoning under uncertainty. Continuing his work in the foundations of statistical and quantum physics, he will discuss the nature of information and the central role of entropy. His approach to inference is tied to Bayesian methodology as deployed in many areas of biology, but the centrality of the principle of maximum entropy sets his work apart from standard statistical treatments.
