Electronically coupling pairs of trucks, or platooning, enables new levels of safety and efficiency.  Vehicle to vehicle communications allow the rear truck in a pair to react automatically and nearly instantaneously to the front truck, dramatically faster, more accurately and more reliably than a human driver.  The system prevents the most common highway accidents and allows a close automated following distance that brings dramatic improvements in fuel economy to both trucks.  Cloud-based services ensure the platooning is done where, when and how it is safe to do so by enabling or adjusting the platooning based on conditions.
