Sunday, 15 February 2015: 8:30 AM-11:30 AM
Room LL20B (San Jose Convention Center)
Elizabeth Spelke, Harvard University, Cambridge, MA
Spelke is a leader in cognitive development. Her work seeks to characterize the core knowledge systems that provide the intuitive basis on which the ability to think and reason mathematically is built. In her talk for the Symposium Spelke will present evidence for her conception of the core knowledge systems under lying mathematical intuitions and share her thinking about the implications of these systems for helping students acquire formal mathematical problem solving and reasoning abilities.
