Shirley Malcom, AAAS, and chair of the NRC Committee on Attracting and Retaining Students to Complete 2- and 4-year Undergraduate Degrees in STEM, will provide an overview of the issues and present the relevant findings from research that have been summarized in a recent NRC consensus study. Based on an extensive and critical review of the research on student STEM pathways in higher education, a panel of experts assembled by the NRC provided guidance for improving current practice.
