Room 210CD (San Jose Convention Center)
Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of solids is hard, so it is rarely attempted. Basic research in very different areas (mathematics, engineering and physics) led to unexpected breakthroughs, which eventually enabled a fresh approach to this long-standing challenge. The talk will describe the discovery process, the innovation, and future applications.
