Modeling Thermo-Petrologic Structures and Fluid Distribution in Subduction Zones
Modeling Thermo-Petrologic Structures and Fluid Distribution in Subduction Zones
Friday, 13 February 2015: 8:30 AM-11:30 AM
Room LL21C (San Jose Convention Center)
This presentation focuses on numerical modeling of thermal and petrologic structures and fluid distribution that result from the subduction of cold oceanic plates into the hot asthenospheric mantle. The modeling results help to understand the physical conditions that control geophysical and geochemical processes in subduction zones, such as earthquakes, mantle melting, arc volcanism, and volatile recycling.
