The National Academies of Science’s Division of Earth and Life Sciences currently supports the “Public Interfaces of Life Sciences Roundtable” (PILS). In late 2013 and early 2014, PILS hosted a series of workshops examining “The Sustainable Infrastructures for Life Science Communication”, which explored the cultural, institutional and financial structures that help or impede scientists from engaging with the public. Dr. Scheufele, Roundtable Chair, will share a summary of these workshops, focused on what we know, don’t know and what to know about science communication infrastructure, with a particularly focus on aspects of this infrastructure relevant to our nation’s investments in science communication.
