Private industry invests significantly in R&D in order to invent the new innovations that we all enjoy in our everyday life. The R&D investment is complemented by increased communication to external stakeholders (e.g., customers) once the innovation reaches the appropriate state of development or commercialization. This talk will explore how and why industry invests in scientists to communicate and share their knowledge, and how one defines that return on investment.
