Future Career Paths for Data Scientists in Academia

With a focus on human centered data science, I will address the socio-technical ecosystem of data science. I will argue that for academic data science to be a success that we need to consider additional human dimensions such as incentives, engagement, and respect. I will then discuss our initial approaches at UW to creating career paths for data scientists.
