Police and security agencies have always used information to prevent or detect crime and to inform security operations. However, recent technological advances in processing and analysing large and complex data from different sources offer new opportunities and challenges. This talk will focus on how applications of big data and analytics in the biological sciences may present new risks and challenges to national and international security, and new tools for addressing them.
