Since ClinicalTrials.gov was launched in 2000 the database has been expanded to accommodate certain scientific goals as well as key international registration policies. The site is now the largest registry of clinical trials in the world and includes nearly 142,000 studies in 182 countries. Nevertheless, many areas of improvement remain, including registration uptake, details and accessibility.
