Life’s chemical and operational diversity is highlighted by remarkable, complex dynamic chemical systems in constant flux, founded on exquisite molecular networks with the demarcation of genotypic and phenotypic molecular information of Nature’s central dogma. We consider the possibility of using the established central dogma as a scaffold from which to shape and explore chemically and functionally distinct genetic platforms with the potential to lead to alternative biochemistries.
