Circumbinary Planets and Planets in Multi-Star Systems
Circumbinary Planets and Planets in Multi-Star Systems
Friday, 13 February 2015: 8:30 AM-11:30 AM
Room 220B (San Jose Convention Center)
Planets are found orbiting not only single stars like our Sun, but also around the many binary stars that populate our galaxy. Some are also found in 3- and 4-star systems. Investigations of the dynamics of these orbits often provide clues to the planetary masses when no other method is available. An overview will be presented of the observed properties of the confirmed and candidate circumbinary planets in the Kepler sample, as well as a discussion of some of the recent theoretical work that these discoveries have spawned.
