In Vivo Imaging of Stem Cells: Deciphering the Dynamics Regulating Self-Renewal
In Vivo Imaging of Stem Cells: Deciphering the Dynamics Regulating Self-Renewal
Friday, 13 February 2015: 3:00 PM-4:30 PM
Room 230B (San Jose Convention Center)
Adult haematopoietic stem cells (HSC) maintain the turnover of peripheral blood by tightly balancing quiescence, self-renewal and differentiation, and leukemia develops from defects in this balance. The speaker will describe novel in vivo imaging technologies that allow for the direct observation and tracking of HSC and leukemia cells within bone marrow. This will allow the development of new molecular interventions able to eradicate leukaemia while preserving normal HSC function.
