Women and International Research Collaborations

International research collaborations provide both unique opportunities and challenges for women. Her book manuscript “Climbing Glass Fences: Women in Global Science” explores how challenges at national levels are amplified in global science. Yet, when research takes US women abroad, they benefit from the “.edu bonus,” having the status of a US scientist makes gender less salient. Implications for institutional strategies for promoting the international engagement of women are discussed.
