He will talk about the current state of optics and photonics in the U.S., present grand challenges in the field and their economic impact as based on the recent National Academy report on Optics and Photonics. Both science, engineering and economy will be discussed and also contrasted with the time after the report Harnessing Light that was published a decade ago.
