Howard University's Department of Systems and Computer Science recently implemented an undergraduate and graduate focus on CS education. This presentation discusses the use of cultural relevance throughout this program's study of K-16 CS education. Based on middle and high-school implementations, the program studies the engagement and retention of students of color in CS. This presentation also discusses the important role HBCU's must play in increasing the CS pipeline.
