Leslie Tolbert, Senior Vice President for Research at the University of Arizona and member of the Golden Goose Award Selection Committee, will talk about instances where scientific research in one area of research has resulted in totally unexpected scientific advances in other areas with major scientific and societal implications. These results often times extend far beyond what anyone could have ever predicted or imagined at the time the initial research was undertaken. To demonstrate the point, Dr. Tolbert will speak to scientific advances made in her own field of neuroscience
