Renewable energy is attractive because it does not require fuel and produces few if any emissions. However, these sources are intermittent and a large amount of renewable energy can be difficult to integrate from both a reliability perspective and frequency control. The grid may become very unstable unless we find ways to store and condition renewable energy.
