Risk Perception and Communication in Nanotechnology Stakeholder Engagement

Equitable participation challenges engagement leaders to embrace diverse audiences and viewpoints in new technology assessment. Nanotechnology stakeholder engagement poses significant challenges. Public awareness about nano remains low despite escalating use, industry safe handling practices are uneven, and scientists’ risk perception varies across applications. This talk discusses challenges and successes in multiple stakeholder engagements at two national centers in California.
