Room 209 (Hynes Convention Center)
First in a series exploring opportunities for scientists and engineers to contribute in policy-making processes, the rewards of civic engagement, and transferable skills that can be developed and applied broadly to a successful career. This session delves into opportunities to contribute leadership and innovation to effect and implement evidence-based policy and initiatives that serve society in the government and nonprofit sectors at the state and federal levels. It underscores the influence of science on the policy-making process and the impacts of policy-making on the scientific enterprise; and provides strategies and resources to learn more about and engage in policy across career stages.
