Ethical and Societal Implications of Brain‑Machine Interfaces

Brain‑machine interface technology is advancing and in the process is raising a variety of ethical issues. These issues run the gamut from relatively mundane problems of clinical trial regulation to mind‑boggling questions about the humanity of individuals with extensively augmented brains. This presentation will key ethical and societal issues, organized by the stage of BMI development at which they are likely to arise.
