Much infrastructure developed in the future must be adjustable and adaptive over time as climate changes. This will require water infrastructure planning that builds upon past successful applications of integrated water resources management, but also approaches that consider the use of infrastructure that is adjustable over time, and perhaps safe- to-fail instead of fail-safe. Examples of the blending of old and new techniques are presented.
