Keith Yamamoto is Vice Chancellor for Research at UCSF. He has served on numerous national committees, including at the National Academy of Sciences and NIH. He will discuss the importance of career development in the context of the broader scientific enterprise, summarize key recommendations from the NIH Director’s biomedical workforce committee on which he serves (to be released in 2012), and point out challenges that the committee was not able to address.
