Room 210 (Hynes Convention Center)
For the first time, the 2013 National Climate Assessment (NCA) report will specifically address the topic of science and information available and needed to support decision-making about mitigating and adapting to the impacts of climate change. This presentation will focus on the adaptation component of the draft 2013 NCA Report, providing: (a) examples of adaptation planning and action in the public and private sectors and at all levels of government; (b) barriers to implementing adaptation; (c) methods to share successes, lessons, and best practices across adaptation planning efforts in regions and sectors; and (d) emerging research needs in support of adaptation.
A sustained assessment process will continue to identify and share “lessons learned” and “best practices”, develop indicators of success, and enhance “knowledge networks” that leverage existing partnerships as well as build new connections between producers and users of information to support adaptation.
