Music and the Brain: A Launching Pad for an Overall Public Awareness of Neuroscience

Sunday, February 17, 2013
Room 208 (Hynes Convention Center)
Daniel Levitin , McGill University, Montreal, QC, Canada
Levitin will describe the process of bringing scientific findings about music and the brain to the public through best-selling books, documentaries, and public radio. The topic has served well as a launchpad for broader public discussions about the brain, healthcare for the aged, and evolutionary biology. In particular, Levitin will discuss the tightrope walk of discussing evolution with middle America. He will also provide practical advice on framing scientific issues during interviews, and interacting with radio call-in show audiences.
