Studies confirm the positive impact of animal source foods (ASF) on the cognitive and physical development of children in sub-Saharan Africa. It is also possible to increase the intake of ASF by children through combined interventions with women’s groups, improving diet quality and also increasing women’s incomes. These interventions were adopted by rural banks to ensure sustainability. Focusing on child and maternal nutrition is key to building human capital for economic and social development.
