Global Monitoring for Environment and Security

The European Earth observation program GMES uses satellites and earth-based facilities to provide information on the environment and security. This information helps us understand better in what way our planet may be changing and how this might influence our daily lives. GMES will thus improve people’s safety e.g. by providing information on natural disasters such as forest fires or floods. Businesses will be able to offer new services in many sectors based on open access to the GMES data.
