Regulator Frameworks and Their Impact on Deepwater Oil Exploration

Performance-based versus prescriptive regulatory frameworks have a large impact on how hydrocarbon development proceeds, particularly in challenging deepwater environs. This presentation will provide an overview of the existing US regulatory framework and compare it with those in other nations that currently explore for oil in deepwater in light of the BP/Deepwater Horizon oil incident.
