This talk serves as a rallying call to get involved in festivals that use a week of celebration to reach into underserved communities and energize science and technology participation for the rest of the year. The presentation is based on third-party evaluation of multiple US-based science festivals, as well as personal experience bringing together companies, civic government, and formal and informal education institutions in the production of the San Diego Science Festival.
