Global health challenges are impacting the lives of billions of people and causing millions of deaths from preventable and curable diseases every year -with a disproportionate burden on the poor. Tackling global health challenges requires a broad mix of resources and talents that go beyond medicine and public health.
Even though Operations Research has been historically under-utilized in global health, operations researchers are well-positioned to make prominent contributions to address global health challenges – and so are specialists from a variety of fields, including sciences and engineering, business and policy administration.
In this talk, the Clinton Health Access Initiative will share its experience in applying Operations Research to improve global health in resource-limited settings. Specifically, Operations Research can “save lives” by fostering better evidence-based decisions in the face of complexity and uncertainty and by utilizing limited resources most effectively.
