Useful Signals from the Motor Cortex

Basic science investigations of neuronal populations have made it possible to extract intended movement signals from cortical activity. The utility of these extracted signals has been demonstrated in monkeys operating prosthetic arms with many degrees of freedom. This technology is now being transferred to humans.
