Adaptive Optics for ESO Astronomical Telescopes

ESO Adaptive Optics: status and roadmap

This presentation will provide an overview of the activities being carried out by ESO for the development of new Adaptive Optics capabilities for the Very Large Telescope and for the European 42m Extremely Large Telescope. We will also describe the highlights of the key technology developments required to implement these projects. The AO roadmap and pathfinder strategy will be discussed as well as the coordination of the European effort to achieve the future challenging AO expectations.
