Informed consent documents must anticipate legal obligations that may result from participating in a study or learning personal results, but these responsibilities are complex and unclear. For example, are participants required to disclose results for chemicals in their household air or dust to landlords/tenants, potential home buyers, or government agencies? Test results can include banned chemicals and compounds used in consumer products, though studies suggest possible health effects.
