Networks of marine reserves and other marine protected areas are place-based means of conserving biodiversity and key ecosystem functions. Global warming (including changes in wind-driven and thermohaline circulation) and ocean acidification will inevitably impact some areas more than others. Given what we can and cannot predict about the spatial patterns of these stressors, how can we design spatial networks to maximize resilience?
