The impacts of climate change will be unevenly felt by both coral reefs and the human communities that depend on them. Cinner will present a novel framework for developing locally appropriate adaptation strategies based on spatial variability in key ecological and socioeconomic impacts. Application of this framework across east Africa reveals that current management strategies are ill prepared for climate change and that a regional adaptation approach is required.
