Evolving Metal Demands May Challenge Land-Based Supplies
Evolving Metal Demands May Challenge Land-Based Supplies
Saturday, February 18, 2017: 8:00 AM-9:30 AM
Room 313 (Hynes Convention Center)
The supply of metals from land-based ore deposits has largely been sufficient over the past century to meet growing demands. As people become more able to afford improved lifestyles, and as technology evolves, the continuation of this supply/demand coevolution becomes less assured. This presentation will evaluate current knowledge of mineable land-based metal resources and compare the resource magnitudes with anticipated demands from scenarios of metal futures from the present to the year 2050.
