Room 210H (San Jose Convention Center)
After the experience of the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake and the nuclear power plant accident that followed, the science and society relationship in Japan should be reconsidered. Building trust and public engagement are enormously important in the modern science and technology-based economy. However, we often face dissociation of science and society on the occasion of events such as large earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, nuclear power plant accidents, etc. This workshop will include dialogue with the audience and sharing of ideas and best practices regarding public engagement with science and technology.
