Science Rapping from Auckland to Oakland

Friday, 13 February 2015: 1:00 PM-2:30 PM
Room LL20A (San Jose Convention Center)
Tom McFadden, Nueva School, Hillsborough, CA
What is the Holy Grail of science rap? Science history battles–written and performed by 6-8th graders–that explore the nature and ethics of science over Kanye beats. Picture Rosalind Franklin vs. Watson & Crick over “Clique.” Tom’s traveled the world dropping science rhymes, but kids deliver the best combination of quality, authenticity, catchiness, and educational value. The presentation will include outcomes from a pre/post/delayed post look at content acquisition and engagement.
