Extreme weather events drive news coverage and leave many Americans wondering how they connect to large-scale climate. Cullen will discuss public perception of the connection between climate change and extreme weather as well as provide an overview of science (both the anthropogenic trend and natural climate variability) for general audiences. Media coverage of extreme weather and climate events at both the national and local level will also be discussed.
