Better understanding of vulnerability and regional feedbacks between climate and biosphere is the prerequisite for predicting the response of the Earth system to global change. The new Infrastructure is initiating across Europe and adjacent regions a network for standardized long-term high precision monitoring of atmospheric greenhouse gas concentrations and ecosystem fluxes. These measurements will enable understanding the exchange processes between the atmosphere, the terrestrial surface, and the ocean.
